I honestly don’t care if people are against abortion. The cliche of “then don’t have one” is true. They have no right to dictate what another woman does with her body. However, as a woman who’s personally MADE THIS CHOICE, I am infuriated with the “pro-life” (which actually is just anti-choice.. let’s be truthful here) mindset, particularly the people who are celebrating this doctor’s death.

Want to fight abortion? Get involved in promoting safe sex, birth-control, and start promoting less bureaucratic ways for women to get prenatal health care if they’re supposedly going to give these children up for adoption (the “pro-life” ideal).

I’m an adoptee, too, by the way. And I still firmly support the right to abortion access.

Fic Status Report (to keep myself sane)

Like a lot of the other writers for the Support Stacie auction, I’m finding myself needing to keep tabs of where I’m at. I’m not writing the amount of fics as some others, so I’m also going to incorporate the other fics I’m tossing around.

Due to real life events, writing on all projects is currently on hold – I hope to get back to them soon, but life needs to get sorted a bit first.

Support Stacie – April

Wiggiemomsi’s winning fic: In progress
Done to date: Plot outline drafted,  85% written

Seeing_History’s bid: On Hold
Done to date: Idea drafted. Writing to commence upon completion of Wiggie’s fic.

Catyuy’s bid: On Hold
Done to date: Idea drafted.  30% written.

Ficathons

Better With 3:  On Hold
Done to date:  Plot outline drafted.  50% written.  Will complete after Support Stacie fics are complete.

Misc. Fic

Adagio: On Hold
Done to date: Drabble written.  Intention to expand.  Goal to complete before end of 2009.

Angelius (Working Title):  On Hold
Done to date:  3 chapters written.  Stalled, needs rework.

Will update this post as progress changes (probably twice per week). Sometime mid summer I’ll create a newer status post, and link that one to here.

Baby birds in the nest

Before I do my photo meme post, I jus thave to share this one… Erich found a birds next in our Pyracantha bush yesterday, nestled in a well-hidden patch underneath the thorns. It’s only a couple steps off the driveway, growing next to the house.

We thought there were only a couple birds, but now that I see this photo, there are at least four in there. :) They’re getting big, too!

We don’t know exactly what they are, but they’re probably a breed of finch or sparrow. We have quite a few of both around here (along with cardinals and blue jays, which these are definitely NOT).

ETA:  Nope, robins!  We saw Mom fly out of the nest this afternoon.  :)

My first new car

My first new car

I bought a TARDIS (aka a Honda Fit… or a Jazz if you’re in certain countries). It’s a light blue one – it came in the actual TARDIS blue, but none were in stock and I honestly loved this color equally, so I’m very happy. Manual transmission (my preferred, honestly), ability to use my iPod, leather shifter, and it’s far bigger on the inside than you’d think.

I’ve already tripled its mileage – not hard when it had a whopping 20 as I drove it off the lot. Already plated with the ones I used on the Jeep and insured. The dealership’s doing the registration for me.

But yes – this is my first purchased car… ever, and I’m very excited. *bouncing*

Oh, and random other note to follow up on my post this weekend – the Zero Room is back up and running normally. The server transfer and quality check is complete. :) I’ll be doing my normal Wednesday backup tomorrow as scheduled. Glad I didn’t have to do too much worrying about it.

Grrr… Zero Room is down

Apparently there’s an SQL error on the site. Unfortunately, the site is also in the middle of being migrated to new digs within my service provider, so it’s not allowing me to log in to fix it.

I’m hoping that the downtime is due to the migration – and I’m going to hold off doing too much about it until Tuesday, given that it’s Memorial Day weekend. If it’s still not back up on its own by Tuesday afternoon, I’ll start looking into it further.

I do have a backup of the site that’s 2 weeks old, and I know very few fics have been posted since then… so one way or the other, things should be ok.

Still – if you’ve been trying to get onto the website and can’t, that’s why.
