I was unable to get out of bed to enjoy the view of the eclipse early this morning, but I’ve been seeing beautiful images on Facebook from those crazy folks who did. 🙂 If you’ve never experienced a total eclipse, I hope you are able to someday… they really are absolutely beautiful quirks of nature, thanks to the chance positioning of our planet, moon, and sun.
As you may or may not know, this month I’m participating in a 31-day blogging project through October as a self-kick in the butt to get blogging again. I’m hoping that a few folks from that project might meander over here and find kindred crafty souls, so forgive me for being a bit long winded and explaining what the WIPocalypse is…
This project started because I was being goofy on caffeine one afternoon, and decided that 2012 would be the year that I would plug away at all of my WIPs (my Works in Progress) and whittle them down… since it was the big year of Mayan calendar doom, I jokingly called it the WIPocalypse… and the name stuck.
It’s now a monthly community share where everyone links up a blog entry to what they’ve been doing, both to show off their work proudly and get encouragement. The majority of folks do needle arts of some sort – cross stitch, hardanger, needlepoint, etc., but we’re an equal-opportunity crafters group. If you knit, crochet, quilt, sew, arrange flowers, scrapbook… come join us. We have more than enough virtual chairs for everyone.
The check-in posts are put up at the full moon every month (give or take a day, due to work and toddler). We also have an optional topic prompt every month, should you wish to add a little more into your post.
But really – it’s just an excuse to have a crafty party, and the more the merrier!
This month’s topic is: Are you a Halloween or Christmas stitcher?
Looking forward to seeing your updates this month!
Important SAL Announcements…
Next month’s posting date: November 6th
Topic for next month: What are your favorite and least favorite materials to use in your stitching?
Please remember that this stitch-a-long is intended to be fun – so if you’re too busy to post, too busy/ill/etc. to stitch – no worries. Post when you can and share what you have going, even if you’ve only been able to toss a single stitch into it. If you miss a few months, not a problem – just jump back in when you’re back with us! It’s not a race or a competition – we’re all just here to cheer each other on with our progress.
Due to different browsing software, some bloggers have found it difficult to check-in with their posts. There are three different ways to check in:
- Via Auto-link
- Via comments (make sure you include your blog address!)
- Via email – to measiwitch(at)gmail.com, only if the other two options are not working. Again- make sure you include your blog address! I’ll add it to the auto-link myself when I have a free moment.
