December 2015 WIPocalypse Check-in!

WIPocalypse ButtonHappy holidays everyone!  I hope you and your loved ones had lovely celebrations, regardless of which holiday(s) you celebrate in December.  It’s hard to believe that the chaos is now (mostly) over, with only New Year’s Eve remaining to celebrate in 2015… I swear the years go faster and faster each time around!

I will be doing some revisions to the basic WIPocalypse information page, but wanted to give you the basic run-down of dates, things changing, etc. for next year:

2016 posting dates: January 24, February 22, March 23, April 22, May 21, June 20, July 19, August 18, September 16, October 16, November 14, December 14

Monthly Questions:  Will continue next year.  I have the first three months, but am happy to take any other questions that folks would like to ask as topics to fill in before I do my own.  🙂  (hint hint… I need topics!)

Sign-up Changes:  There will be no yearly sign-up registration for next year.  Just jump in and post whenever you’re able to join us each month. I will keep a sample in-links post in the SAL information so you can “test” your posts there before hopping to the current month’s check-in page if you’re not familiar with how InLinks works, or want to test a new image to attach to your posts.  Don’t worry about multiple postings over there… that’s what it’s for.  Give it a test run.  Every once in a while I’ll go through and clean it out (and I’ll announce in the monthly posts before doing so, in case anyone needs to recover a photo from there for some reason).

WIPocalypse Olympic Challenge: The Summer Olympics will be held in Rio and will run from August 5th to 21st.  We’ll be hosting a challenge for everyone stitching on their WIPs to run for the length of the Olympics with three different “competitions”:  a rotation challenge (for those who like to work on a bunch of different pieces), a distance challenge (for those one at a time stitchers, or anyone else who wants to do some serious focusing on a particular piece), and a color challenge (stitch only in the colors of the olympic rings on your WIP pieces, OR… your nation’s flag).

Question of the Month

Recap your accomplishments for the year! (Your finishes, your final before/after photos, etc).

*~~~~*~~~~~~*

I hope you had a fabulous stitching year, and hopefully 2016 will be even better!

Best, Mel.

Important SAL Announcements…

Next posting date: January 24, 2016

Topic for next time: Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year!

Please remember that this stitch-a-long is intended to be fun – so if you’re too busy to post, too busy/ill/etc. to stitch – no worries. Post when you can and share what you have going, even if you’ve only been able to toss a single stitch into it. If you miss a few months, not a problem – just jump back in when you’re back with us! It’s not a race or a competition – we’re all just here to cheer each other on with our progress.

Due to different browsing software, some bloggers have found it difficult to check-in with their posts. There are three different ways to check in:

  • Via Auto-link
  • Via comments (make sure you include your blog address!)
  • Via email – to measiwitch(at)gmail.com, only if the other two options are not working. Again- make sure you include your blog address! I’ll add it to the auto-link myself when I have a free moment.

Thanks for organising this for another year! I have a blank mind for discussion topics at the moment but you could revisit some from other years?
How about “what were you stitching this time last year and have you finished it?”
