January 2016 WIPocalypse Check-In Post

WIPocalypse ButtonHello everyone!

Welcome to our fifth year of the WIPocalypse!  That end of the world thing seems to be a distant memory at this point, doesn’t it?  If you’re returning for another year, I’m happy you’re joining us again. And if you’re new to the WIPocalypse, welcome!  🙂

The 2015 Information page has been archived and replaced with a new page with 2016 information.  Dates and upcoming questions are included there, as well as brief information about the Olympic Challenge in August.  I do hope to have a couple of fun surprises along the way, too, with giveaways and such.  We shall see what the year brings!

Just so they’re handy for your calendar… here are the posting dates for 2016:

January 24, February 22, March 23, April 22, May 21, June 20, July 19, August 18, September 16, October 16, November 14, December 14

The stitching questions of the month can be found on the information page.  I do still need a couple of questions, so if you have an old favorite or something you’re curious about – please send me a message with the question!  The more the merrier!

Now that Max is getting older, I’m finding that I’m able to do a little more stitching than in the past three years, so I’m hoping I’ll make some great progress along with so many of you that have posted over the years.  And I look forward to reading about your journey with your WIPs.

Best of luck with your stitching this year, as well as any other endeavors you’ll be pursuing!

Happy 2016,

Melissa

Important SAL Announcements…

Next posting date: February 22, 2016

Topic for next time: If you have any of your pieces on display in your home which attracts the most plaudits? (via Hazel)

Please remember that this stitch-a-long is intended to be fun – so if you’re too busy to post, too busy/ill/etc. to stitch – no worries. Post when you can and share what you have going, even if you’ve only been able to toss a single stitch into it. If you miss a few months, not a problem – just jump back in when you’re back with us! It’s not a race or a competition – we’re all just here to cheer each other on with our progress.

Due to different browsing software, some bloggers have found it difficult to check-in with their posts. There are three different ways to check in:

  • Via Auto-link
  • Via comments (make sure you include your blog address!)
  • Via email – to measiwitch(at)gmail.com, only if the other two options are not working. Again- make sure you include your blog address! I’ll add it to the auto-link myself when I have a free moment.

I’ve linked up with my Introduction post today. Looking forward to seeing some more of your stitching this year too. It does get easier as they get older and are happy to entertain themselves while you stitch alongside them playing.

Suggestion for a monthly topic – what would you put in a time capsule for your future stitching self?

Another idea for a topic – do you always stitch exactly as per the chart or do you usually change something?
Inspired by an email from Preeti.
