February 2017 WIPocalypse Check-In!

WIPocalypse ButtonHello again everyone!

I’m a little late this morning in posting the check-in due to a bit of post-convention brain fogginess.  I just returned home yesterday after a fantastic three days at Stitcher’s Hideaway in Sturbridge, MA.  This retreat is held every February as a come-as-you-are relaxed atmosphere to work on whatever you have going and hopefully make some good progress, meet new folks, eat a bunch of yummy (and a bit too much) food, do some shopping, and just have a great time.

I managed to check every box on that list this year.  Definitely the best year so far with Hideaway.  I needed the escape so badly.  Hopefully the relaxed feeling won’t be completely obliterated as soon as I walk in the door at work tomorrow.

So once I get my stuff unpacked and sorted, I’ll get my own check-up posted.  🙂  I wanted to get this up and active, though, since I should have had it done earlier this morning.

(Edit:  And of course, as I rush to get this done, I forget my password to login to InLinkz so I can set up this month’s linkup… any minute now that password reset can show up… it’s been 10 minutes since I typed up the rest of the entry…

So… while we wait… how about a random non-stitchy question for you all? Feel free to answer in the comments, or not at all… because I’m sure this looks rather odd in a blog entry…  but what fun things do you have planned over the next few months?  Here Spring is right around the corner, and I’m getting a little itchy to really spend some time outdoors.  Max is old enough now that I’m thinking of taking up some easy form of Geocaching/Letterboxing with him to go have some adventures and also get some good walking exercise.)

Okay… clearly it’s going to take a while for that InLinkz issue to get solved… so I’m going to post this for now.  Please post your link in the comments, and if you have a preferred photo to link to it, please EMAIL it to me at measiwitch(at)gmail.com.  I’ll add everyone personally to the linkup once I get this fixed.)
Update at 6 pm – Link up has now been added – thank you for your patience!

I hope that all of you had a wonderful February and made some great progress, too!

Happy stitching,

Important SAL Announcements…

Question of the Month – What is your favorite stitch other than the standard cross stitch?  (bonus points if you provide a how-to link or diagram it on your blog post!)

Next posting date: March 26, 2017

Topic for next time: What stitchy blogs, groups, or flosstubes do you follow and why?

Please remember that this stitch-a-long is intended to be fun – so if you’re too busy to post, too busy/ill/etc. to stitch – no worries. Post when you can and share what you have going, even if you’ve only been able to toss a single stitch into it. If you miss a few months, not a problem – just jump back in when you’re back with us! It’s not a race or a competition – we’re all just here to cheer each other on with our progress.

Due to different browsing software, some bloggers have found it difficult to check-in with their posts. There are three different ways to check in:

    • Via Auto-link
    • Via comments (make sure you include your blog address!)
    • Via email – to measiwitch(at)gmail.com, only if the other two options are not working. Again- make sure you include your blog address! I’ll add it to the auto-link myself when I have a free moment.

Hi Carol – I was having some issues earlier with InLinkz, and figured I’d get the post up… and I could add people manually later from the comments.

Your link is now listed where it should be. 🙂

In answer to your bonus question this month – I have a trip planned to visit my cousin and her new baby. I also have a Nora Corbett Letter Fairy to stitch for said baby! As her three female cousins all have them I have to do one for her too.
I am also planning a trip to The Art Of The Brick Superhero exhibition. I have a feeling that’s something Max might like, maybe when he’s a little older.
Blog-wise I am launching a new group blog and also planning my Easter Treasure Hunt Blog Hop.

Hi Stephanie – have a blast at the crafty retreat. They are always fun (whether or not you actually get stitching done!) Best of luck to your son… I hope he transitions well!

I’ve added your link to the link up.

Hi Kerry – thanks… I’ve added your link to the link up.

Which stitching show is in March? I hope you enjoy!

We’re ready for Spring here too. Signed up our oldest son for soccer to start in about a month and we just booked our first camping trip as a family of 5 for May with my parents so we’ll see how camping with twin toddlers goes. With my parents around the adults will definitely outnumber kids so we’ve got a good chance of doing ok:)

    • Melissa says:

Camping with twin toddlers? Goddess bless you… I don’t think I could handle that with my single!

Added your link to the link up. Thanks!

    • Melissa says:

Thanks Gwen – sorry, was having problems with InLinkz earlier. I’ve added your link to the auto link up!

I hope you have fun on the road trip – my stitching circle also does something similar in October. It’s always a blast. 🙂

A couple of days late but managed to get one in again this month! Glad that you had a couple of days off Measi, hope it keeps you refreshed for a couple of weeks. I am planning on doing some herb gardening.

    • Melissa says:

Me too! I’ll be happy with just a week, though. Anything beyond that is just a bonus.

Have fun with the gardening. I’ll be putting one in this year as well (and have Max help me, since he’s a perfect age to play in the dirt), but we can’t plant many things until well into May here.

  4. Stitching Noni says:

All linked up.. bit late but got there in the end! Hopefully March is a good stitchy month – it would be good to touch some of the other WIPs on my list :o)
