I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend, full of whatever you celebrate, or productive in resting, recouping, and re-energizing if you don’t.
Ours was very quiet and uneventful. We went to bed on Christmas Eve with about six inches of snow on the ground. Got up on Christmas morning, and the grass was bare. Completely melted off, with the exception of the plow piles on the curbs (and as of Sunday, those are gone, too). Amazing.
Since Mom cancelled out on her trip up from Pennsylvania with my brother in tow, we really didn’t have any plans. All three of us got up late, bummed around for a while, and then headed out around 1 or 2 to find Chinese food.
We drove for a little while, starting first on Wickenden Street, then making a circle literally around College Hill before finding ourselves in North Providence. Nothing had been open. It was a quiet, bright, warm day, and we enjoyed the exploration around the city. I’d checked for places open before we left (just in case), and saw that MuMu on Atwells Ave was open for Thanksgiving, so I presumed they’d be open for Christmas.
And yes, they were. The only thing open in Federal Hill. Seeing Atwells Ave dead silent was just creepy. For anyone who knows Providence (and particularly Federal Hill) – we had our pick of parking. No cars anywhere on the street. This is a Very Weird Thing.
The food at MuMu was fantastic – in fact, quite possibly the best I’ve had since moving to New England, outside of the very authentic “I don’t know what I’m eating and don’t want to know… because it tastes good” food you get in Boston’s Chinatown. Nothing was greasy, everything had lots of flavor and the presentation was great. We shared a scorpion bowl (in a beta fish bowl… hee!) between the three of us and stuffed ourselves on a variety of foods. We will definitely be going back there.
After dinner, we just came home and bummed around. Watched the new Who episode, which I thought was cute but definitely not my favorite of the pack (of the four Christmas specials, it’s sitting tied at the bottom with Voyage of the Damned). Lots of World of Warcraft. I finished the couple bubbles I had to level to 75 – and then by yesterday levelled to 76. Otherwise we’ve been doing a lot of the low level quests available to gain reputation with our faction’s cities. Both of us are gearing to get the Ambassador, Exploration and the Loremaster achievements. Erich has already gained Loremaster of Outland and Eastern Kingdoms. I have only Northrend to finish exploring. Geekdom geekdom, yadda yadda yadda.
On Friday, Erich had to work. I did a bit of project work but not as much as I’d hoped – some beta work, some fic drafting, but mostly just recouping because I’ve been exhausted at work. I made a delayed Christmas dinner – a new roast recipe I found on Recipezaar that had a lot of very positive rankings (4.5 out of 5). I followed the recipe exactly, but sadly it’s probably the blandest pot roast I can recall. Not sure how that happened, considering the recipe had quite a bit of grated horseradish and dijon mustard in the mix, but both tastes were virtually eliminated in cooking. It was wonderfully tender and the carrots and potatoes came out nice and tender – but the roast and broth gravy were a disappointment flavor-wise. Thankfully for the leftovers, I still have plenty of the grated horseradish to top the meat slices. And if need be, I’ll make the mustard sauce I normally use to make mustard carrots.
For Saturday, we spent most of the day up with friends, catching up with a couple of the guys who have moved out of New England but were home for the holidays. A massive Risk boardgame battle ensued, as well as some Rock Band goodness. Relaxing, nothing particularly special, but good to see them and spend some time. A couple of the guys are pressuring me to take part in Erich’s Star Wars d20 campaign, but I honestly am enjoying my time NOT gaming these days. I just can’t handle the 6-12 hours sitting in a chair like they can. My attention span to that just isn’t good anymore. And honestly, I have other things I want to do – writing, WoW, stitching (one of these days), and just getting a few little projects done.
Sunday was project day – going out to get me a new monitor since my desktop LCD has decided to start draining itself (and therefore turning black) – they were out of the type I wanted, so we’ll go back later. Went to Home Depot for a couple things, and the pet store for the standard supplies. We also took down our tree. I prefer to keep it up until the first week of January, but this year it just could not happen. The tree stopped taking on water a couple weeks ago and was tinder dry, so fire safety had to rule the day this year.
So now I’m back at work for another short week. I took Friday off to allow for another 4-day weekend, and I’m hoping to be a lot more productive. Erich’s gaming on Saturday, which should allow me plenty of time (and quiet) to finish my Support Stacie fic for wiggiemomsi. If work continues to be dead quiet this week, I’m planning on spending a lot of time going through beta work for others so it makes me look busy.
And then to figure out what I’m doing New Year’s Eve. Anyone up for anything?
The good thing for this weekend is that both of the pieces I need to post for ficathons by the 15th are written. Erich’s doing the beta for me (a bit weird, considering one is rather… smutty). A bit of a relief, although I get tired of being right to the wire like this. *sigh*
I know that both dameruth and misssara11 have written pieces for me this week – I hope to be sitting down to relax and read them tonight, once I know my obligations are all set.
(an early thank you to both, since I’m always excited to read special fic!)
Christmas cards are finally done – I’m mailing them off tomorrow. aibhinn, I’m also mailing your RSC items tomorrow – two separate packages, FYI.
So this week, I’m going to focus on getting some beta work done for avoria, and start drafting my piece for wiggiemomsi for Support Stacie. And maybe… just maybe, I’ll get my office tidied up so I can start writing there for the winter. I need to put a lot of work into scrubbing it – I haven’t really been in there since August or so. I’d planned to do some work on it today, but my back’s very sore… I think I just slept wrong last night, but I admit I’m overly paranoid about it right now.
So I’m spending the downtime playing WoW. I levelled one of my lowbies to 30 and got her first mount (sooo much cheaper than when I got my mount for Tennetty!). I levelled Tennetty to 73, and she’s now halfway to 74. Cowtastrophe is about 1/4 away from 61. Slowly but surely.
The weather’s been odd this weekend. We were NOT among the millions affected by the ice storm, thankfully. Rhode Island just got a crapload of rain. A few of our friends did lose power, still out now on Sunday evening. Said friends were able to find safe places to stay, thankfully, since the temp dropped very low last night (mid teens). I guess tomorrow’s supposed to be quite warm again – somewhere around 60 degrees. No wonder I’m still feeling like I’m fighting off a bug. *sigh*
Looking forward to our office party on Tuesday – we’re going to the reopened Hard Rock Cafe, now that it’s moved to Faneuil Hall. And we’re having a Rock Band competition. Heh. Should be interesting.
As long as I’m not forced to sing!
Hooray train internet access!
My last entry in Russian. Was me venting off steam about a decision I made yesterday (or more accurately, the reactions I got from friends on the decision). It was the right decision for me to make, and to be honest I should have made it a couple months ago when I first started feeling this way. But yes, the reactions surprised (and irritated) me a bit. Especially when I was encouraged to speak my mind on the subject. I’m sorry they feel it puts them in a difficult place, but I was very careful in my email wording to speak only for myself and didn’t presume to speak for anyone else (even those who had been agreeing with me in private).
My box set of the X-Files arrived yesterday. Now I need to go through my old tapes and find my blooper reels and such that won’t be on them, to make sure I save those somehow. Otherwise – anyone want a ton of VHS tapes?
And when I say a ton, I mean it. Those who watched me put the collection together can vouch. Two episodes per tape, all tapes numbered in order. I can guarantee I have through season 7 complete. After that, it might get a bit shaky. A few episodes in the 1st season are pretty bad quality because they were tapes of tapes (of possibly tapes). Otherwise, everything is probably in good order.
I’m very jealous of the people going to see the taping of Friday Night Project tonight with David Tennant. Very jealous. I will, however, enjoy watching it late tomorrow night or Saturday morning with the rest of the non-UK crowd.
I’m not really sure what the fuss over on OG is about regarding Who being on at 6:20, but that’s probably just because I’m used to watching new Who at around 5:30 p.m. my time on Saturdays.
Took yesterday off for mental health after the commute from hell on Tuesday. Wound up being a good thing anyway due to leg pain (from standing for so long) and some frustrations with my period that came two weeks early this month. I spent a decent amount of the day playing Warcraft – exploring the new patch that came out Tuesday. Made about 300g during the day.
Our tax refund cleared Erich’s account this morning – yay!
Talked to Mom last night… she’s doing fine, enjoying her new job that doesn’t have her driving all over Pennsylvania every week. Big news isn’t from her, but from my brother… Scott got accepted at the University of Arizona. He’s looking into student housing, and will start as a freshman in August. I’m very proud of him – and admire him for going back to school full time at age 30. He got an associate’s degree right after high school, but apparently work in the computer field wasn’t panning out as he’d hoped, and he’s decided to go back to get a full bachelor’s to help open up more options. Apparently he’s been saving money/working two jobs so he can pull this off and got the federal loans and such to support himself in it. I’m not sure what degree he’s pursuing, though… I’ll have to give him a call this weekend to see what’s what.
I’m hoping that part of this weekend is warm enough to open the windows in the house – I want to start on the spring cleaning (starting in our sunroom) on Saturday. Erich did a huge deal of work in the living room and dining room last week – so if we can get the sunroom and kitchen done this weekend, that’s one full floor of the house complete.
Need to get through my old clothes soon, too.
Oop.. almost to Back Bay… time to start shutting down the laptop…
*waving to the half-dozen new LJ buddies I’ve met over the last couple days since Who spoilers exploded* (no spoiler talk in this entry, however)
scuba_mo‘s coming down to our house for the weekend. I know that 3:10 to Yuma is in the viewing plans (mmm… pretty boys in Western…), and the guys are going to be working out characters for Erich’s new Star Wars d20 campaign.
I’ve chosen *not* to play in that campaign. I think the fact that it’s been about seven months since he proposed it, and I haven’t been enthused to create a character is a sign that it’s just not quite my thing. Which is fine. I’m sure I’ll come in to a couple sessions here and there as a guest character/NPC as needed. But it doesn’t commit me to the game, and that’s honestly important to me right now. I’m finding myself with a ton of obligations (by my own choice, mind) these days, and I just don’t want to add another one onto the plate.
SO… my weekend is fairly free (yay!), aside from a few standard weekend chores. I’m hoping to get some writing done this weekend. I have the Series Finale for Project Runway to watch from Wednesday night. I’m sure I’ll play some World of Warcraft, continue my quest to save up 5,000 gold toward one of those purdy dragon mounts (I’m almost at 2,000 gold now… slowly but surely, I’ll get there!). I need to do some computer tidying – I have a lot of scattered files all over the place that need to be sorted and put in appropriate folders. My frantic drabbles to find my voice for the Holdiay OT3 ficathon are scattered ALL OVER my desktop, for starters. *snort*
One thing I’d really love to do soon is get my stitching stuff back in order. I felt the need to stitch last weekend, but my supplies are just scattered about and I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t one of my super-difficult Teresa Wentzler patterns. And yes, I love stitching my TW patterns – I have many of her designs in progress (I seriously can’t believe that string of words worked out brilliantly for all of my links… hee!), I can’t go into stitching on one of them cold after months of not stitching at all. They’re simply too complicated. I need to gather everything up, label my bobbin bins appropriately for my projects, and just get things under control so I can start doing some work on them.
And from what I hear, the weather is supposed to be craptastic on Saturday, so it looks to be a good day for writing and puttering. So hey, maybe I’ll be productive!
In addition to continuing LJ drama… I was a slacker for the long weekend.
*gasp* Not fandom! Well… perhaps it is. Just – alternative fandom.
And because it’s going to be Greek (Tauren? Orcish?) to anyone who doesn’t play World of Warcraft… I’ll be a bit careful to explain things as necessary.
So my first character (“main”), Tennetty, is a happy level 70 Tauren hunter – max level you can have. But there’s still plenty of stuff to do once you HIT that level. Literally it’s like playing an entirely different game – the one to get you there, and then all of the stuff you do once you’re there (group battles, advanced quests, daily quests, etc.).
Said level 70 game was put on hold until after the wedding because I just didn’t have time to devote to it. Now that the wedding is behind me, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying blowing off steam and just killing time playing WoW. Got through all of my required quests that unlock some of the advanced stuff – and now I’m happily doing the 10-man raid instances with my guild. Until this week, my current weaponry/armor really only allowed me to do the first half of our current raid instance. This week, I was able to join the group for the latter tier. So I’m having a blast – getting some good gear, discovering gorgeous new places (really – one of my favorite things about WoW is just how beautiful the game world is… I can just go exploring and have a great time sight-seeing!)
This week, I was scheduled to run Karazhan both last night and tomorrow. Had some problems with my login, so my spot last night went to one of the other hunters in the guild – someone who hadn’t been to Kara. People were all worried when I logged on, and I said no – it’s cool. Get someone else geared. I’ll bring Tennetty over to the front gates and leave her there in case someone needs to leave and you need a spot filled. But it was seriously no problem. At this point, I’d honestly prefer to be able to try the Thursday night session, since it’s almost all new to me.
So I park Tennetty, log onto one of my lower-level alt characters, Kelima – a Troll Warrior – to do some questing/levelling. scuba_mo joined me on a hunter alt alt of similar level, and we cleared out a couple quests. I emphasize couple, because one specific quest took us nearly an hour because the drop rate on the items we needed to collect was so bad.
and here’s where the WoW experienced will know what I’m referring to a bit better…
So bad, in fact, that even with the two of us sharing the kill XP, I managed to completely wrap around my XP bar 1.5 times. DURING THE QUEST. I started at level 23 last night. Levelled upon turning in a quest to start the evening. Then we go do this quest in the Barrens (collecting three weapons, killing three named Quilboars in the Barrens… mid 20′s level). I wrap around, level, run out of rest XP as I’m still gaining XP – and then upon turning in the other completed quests in my log last night (I hadn’t turned in for a while – I had nine to turn in!) – I’m now 3/4 the way to the NEXT level.
IN ONE THREE HOUR SESSION OF WOW.
All the while both of us are having to constantly throw out food, grey items, etc. out of our bags because they’re now constantly full, but we’re far enough away from town that neither of us really wants to run to just clear out bags.
Seriously… WTF? Not that I’m complaining (other than regarding the drop rate of those effing weapons)… but insane.
So yeah, with really only about 5 hours of play time, i’ve gone from level 21 to nearly 26 with Kelima this week. Not too shabby.
Of course, now she’s out of rest XP, so I’ll have her parked at the inn for a couple days to recharge. I need to work on my pet with Tennetty – I’ve been neglegent about feeding Mousedeath lately. I’ve had him since level 28, and recently his loyalty is back down to 3. Not good.
Never piss off a cat. Even in WoW.
*sigh*
Thus ends my geekdom for the day.
Proud of everyone who went to vote yesterday – I know we bitch about our votes not mattering, but they’d matter less if we didn’t go out to express opinions at all. I, by the way, have not yet had the opportunity to vote. Rhode Island was not part of Super Tuesday. So my shiny “I voted” sticker will be coming next month. They didn’t update my voter registration correctly when I renewed my driver’s license – it’s still under my maiden name. But I have my passport still under that name, so I’ll bring it in case I’m asked for ID. *shrug* Then I’ll change it for the formal elections in November.
Didn’t get fanfic writing done yesterday as I’d hoped. My brain is just tapped, I think. It’s frustrating, but I’m at the point where forcing it will make the situation worse. I need to relax, and eventually the words will come. I could try drunken writing again, I assume.
New Torchwood tonight. Woot.
Kara raid last night was… interesting. I was distracted all to hell, and stupidly pulled a couple mobs when I shouldn’t have, and my freeze/frost traps were all confused. *sigh* But we did okay. The Thursday raid group will have Aran through the end to clear, as we just stumbled on Aran last night. No idea why – past attempts hadn’t been bad. No other party wipes, though – which was good considering that we only had one priest to shackle for half of the night.
News continues to come in on my friend Rob. He’s better in some ways, confusing the hell out of the doctors in others. The docs brought him in for a biopsy yesterday. Meanwhile, he’s regaining some of the use of his lungs, and now is awake a bit more often. He’s irritated with the tubes, which actually is a very good sign.
Lots to think about. Lots to do.
I haven’t posted here on measi(dot)net in a while – it honestly has been slipping my mind. I don’t know. I think I just want to keep all of the fandom insanity separate from my blog over here, but it seems that my life is just wrapped in fandom these days… so, eh. I probably just should let it bleed over and give up, eh?
In any case, it’s been insane since the beginning of the year, and here’s my thirteen things that have been taking over my life since the New Year:
1) Birthday celebrations. I’m 33, had a fantastic birthday with friends over a Pats game and some delicious strawberry hookah smoking.
2) The Patriots. Sundays have been owned by football. Absolutely owned. And I’m loving it. The Superbowl party is in the works.
3) Being sick. I fell ill with a cold on New Year’s Eve, and still have the annoying cough that goes with it, despite otherwise feeling fine. It’s not a painful cough, mostly in the mornings and evenings, but the cold weather (and the hookah smoking on my birthday) didn’t help.
4) Fanfic writing. I’ve been finishing up pieces that were due around the holidays. Got one done and posted last week. Now I’m working on the other one, which I hope to have completed this month. A small idea just snowballed and, with some help from another writer, looks to be a much better, satisfying piece.
5) Work. I’ve been absolutely insane with work lately. Lots of little projects, lots of paperwork to get through because insurance policies have just renewed as of the first of the year, and lots of really random little things like redesigning the company letterhead (eep!)
6) Torchwood & Doctor Who – Torchwood Series 2 just started airing in the UK last week, and it starts on BBCA this Saturday, along with Doctor Who series 3. Both shows are must-see, IMHO. The second series of Torchwood is already MUCH better than the first. Much slicker, stronger plots, and much more sure of itself. And Series 3 Who? Absolutely wonderful. The first six episodes are a mixed bag, but the last seven are much-watch. Particularly Human Nature, Family of Blood, and Blink which should be on in March. You must watch Blink if you haven’t done so. It’s a brilliant piece of television, regardless of science fiction leanings. It’s up for a Nebula award, and undoubtedly will go up for a Hugo this year (the writer, Steven Moffat, has won for his Who outings the past two years).
7) Money issues. Erich and I have been… let’s say, stressed. Partially holidays related, partially increase in heating bills related, and partially issues that come up with his mom’s estate. I’m just really worried about financing our trip to England in October.
Emotional stuff. Erich’s worn down by his mom’s estate affairs. I’m worn down from being constantly on the run since, oh, last August. We’re both in dire need of a break. Thankfully we’re not snapping at each other, but both of us are just exhausted.
9) The weather. Unlike last year, where it was nearly 50 degrees for a good portion of January, it’s been quite cold with lingering snow. I think it’s contributing to some of the emotional exhaustion.
10) Attempting to get our lives back in order. Vet appointments are being caught up on, getting stuff cleaned around the house, finishing up the final few thank you notes from the wedding, etc. – we have a lot of little projects around the house that we desperately want to get done.
11) Cat issues. Along with the generic vet appointment, we’ve been dealing with some feline frustration. One of the cats was taking to peeing all over the house. We’ve added a couple additional cat boxes (one upstairs, one out in the sunroom), and that seems to have stopped most of it. We still have an idiot cat who is apparently going into a cat box and peeing, not realizing its ass is hanging out of the box when it goes, though. Haven’t caught the culprit, but somehow I think it’s one of our bigger three – Colley, Gus, or Hoodsie.
12) World of Warcraft. Attempting to have some me-time has resulted in a lot of hours playing WoW again, and doing all of the in-game related stuff I’ve wanted to do but couldn’t commit the time to while also planning the wedding. Meaningless to real life, of course, but still a little sense of accomplishment all the same.
13) I really don’t have a thirteen. Maybe commuting time? The MBTA continues to suck and get worse. This morning’s sightseeing excursion on the commuter rail took us ringing around the city through Dorchester because apparently there was something wrong on the mainline track. Never mind the fact that when we got to the junction where both lines meet up by South Station, there were three trains that came through the main line. AND, our train was forced to wait through three trains coming through (10 minutes, standing still), despite us being the ones that were running 20 minutes late into the station. *sigh*
Will February calm down? I hope so!
I’ll be doing my first raid of Kara tonight in WoW. Only took me a friggin’ year since the expansion came out to be able to go – typical Measi slowness. Should be fun, though. I haven’t been in a raid since, oh, November ’06? Whenever the last time Burrito Bandits raided pre-expansion. I can’t even remember at this point if it was AQ20 or ZG.
I’ve been reading friends’ pages as the reviews from this weekend’s Arisia convention come in. As always, it’s a mix. Mostly good experiences, which is great to hear. But as always, criticisms are quickly dismissed with “well, go do it yourself, then!!” regardless of validity. It’s frustrating, and it’s the main reason why I distanced myself from the con after 2005. *shrug* We’ll see.
It’s not like I could have gone this year – and we won’t have the money next year post ZOMG Geek Honeymoon! either, so who knows?
Not much else for now… time for lunch…
I swear Erich and I must be the only legally bound couple in New England who both have to work today. *sigh* There sure as hell weren’t a lot of people on the commute today – not only did I get a three-seat to myself on the train, but most of the backward-facing seats were completely empty.
This means, of course, that on the way home they’ll close off cars and cram us all onto one car, rather than let us enjoy our rides home with personal space. Mark my words, it’ll happen.
Watched the Pats game yesterday – very happy the Pats are in the Superbowl. L.T. just amuses me – I realize that he has tremendous talent. I realize he was injured. I can respect that he recongized that his lack of effective play due to injury made him decide to keep himself off the field. But for a guy who spouts his mouth off all the time, he certainly knows how to sulk, be anti-social and be unsupportive of his team, doesn’t he? Rivers? Huge props for playing with that knee. Huge.
Bummed a bit that the Packers aren’t going to the Superbowl – Favre vs. Brady would have been fantastic. But hey, Manning the younger will be great too – the Giants gave the Pats such a fantastic game at the end of the season. Should be a great match up.
Lots of random crap to do this week – exhaustion from work last week kinda took over this weekend. I worked on a few things, but nothing was completed other than my beta reading for rabid1st and some completely non-essential to life things on World of Warcraft (although I’m now keyed for Kara… yay!). So this week’s stuff-to-do includes:
1) The final drafting of my OSK pinch hit (thank you, principia_coh for the brainstorming ideas!!!)
2) Update the TBS website with the new initiated class
3) Finish the never-ending pile of laundry in the basement
4) Reclaim the kitchen
5) Give the bathroom a proper scrub
6) Reclaim the futon in the sunroom
- So… to my honest surprise, part two of Life in Passing went over well. It had been mostly finished on my computer for about a tenday, but some reviews that I received from part one had me reluctant to post – particularly since I’d struggled so much to write the damned thing. But I had to post it, because it was a gift piece.
When I was doing a final read-over yesterday, I felt something was missing, and added the scene with Jack walking through the storage room. I’m slightly amused that so many people really like THAT scene (considering it was written in about three minutes, ad-hoc, just before posting).
But I’m glad it’s posted. And I am quite happy with it.
- Now I just need to turn my eye onto my pinch hit piece for OSK, which also is mostly done. It needs a once-over. But before I do that, I’ll be doing the beta work for Rae (probably during my commute tonight) on Disheveled.
- Torchwood Series 2 begins tonight. Woot. Yes, I will have upload posts as soon as I can get them up. Since I’ll be in the middle of a train ride when the torrents start popping up, I’ve shown Erich how to start them.
It’ll be interesting to see if they’re done by the time I get home. Doubt it, based on what I saw for VotD.
- Worked through the beginnings of two instances in WoW last night toward my Karazan key for a single quest. Did a couple daily quests and raised my rep up with a couple different groups to Honored. And then I went fishing for a while over in Tanaris. Picked up a crapload of mid-level stuff to sell in the AH, and raised my fishing skill up 13 points. I’m now at an even 300. Can’t complain – it was a very good, fruitful night of Warcraft.
- And that’s it. Off to work. More later.
- Even though I wasn’t able to due to my gear, it was so awesome to see my guild raiding last night in World of Warcraft again. And awesome to hear voices on Vent.
- Speaking of Vent – fellow WoW players. Anyone know how to get around the Vent 3.0.0 issue where two people in one household on a mutual router can’t log into Vent at the same time? Until recently, our guild used TeamSpeak, and this wasn’t a problem. But now, well… yeah. So unless we can figure this out, Erich and I can’t raid at the same time (unless we yell across the house)
- I have a rough draft plot for each of the two fics I have due in December for ficathons.
- I have a couple of quite good fics I’m doing beta work on for folks – both will be mailed back to their respective owners tomorrow evening.
- ivy_pep – mail is enroute to you. I sent it Priority Mail, so you should have it by tomorrow at the latest.
- The housework goal for the weekend got completed. Bathroom scrubbed. Kitchen scrubbed. Now we just have the living room and dining room to get into order for guests on Thursday. Not too bad.
- As much as I am enjoying the Pats trounce over just about everyone this season, it can be a little dull to watch. But at the same time, I realize that the Pats are doing something pretty historical right now in the football world. So well, yeah, I’ll stop and just enjoy it.
- The nan bread from Stop & Shop is quite sad. But then again, I’ve been spoiled with the real stuff, so… *shrug*
- I need a nap. Really, really tired. And the delicious pumpkin soup at Au Bon Pain did not help my brainpower today – it just made me want to snuggle somewhere with a cat.
- Seeing your name next to the words “Last Will and Testament” is a very surreal experience. But it’s nice to know that Erich and I both have wills in place as well as DNR documents in case, Goddess forbid, something happens to us.
- New Doctor Who tonight. Woot!
- I’m now the proud owner of a 500 gig external harddrive. It’s quite spiffy – the height of a paperback, thickness of a Robert-Jordan sized paperback. And it’s 3 times larger than my computer’s harddrive. Should take care of some of my… issues.
- Less than a week until Thanksgiving. Eeek!
- I have an entire weekend with no scheduled events. Instead, it’s going to be a weekend of around-the-house projects. Thanksgiving dinner shopping, cleaning up (and out) the kitchen so it’s ready to go for Thursday’s whirlwind, scrubbing the bathroom, and tidying up the living room.
- Save your medical bills for your taxes, folks. Erich managed to decrease a LOT of stress on his mom’s final taxes via the medical bill statements. Really. You want to.
- I seriously need new clothes. Two of my favorite sweaters now have armpit holes. I’m going to attempt to sew them back together (because I think they’re fairly clean seam holes), but still… I need new clothes.
- World of Warcraft just became more awesome with Patch 2.3. Faster levelling, new daily quests involving cooking, and my hunter tracking is now ass-kicking because aggressive enemies show up in red, instead of the generic yellow. (yes, I’m geeking… but seriously). AND the auction house is so much faster.
- Simmer Dim is one of the more delicious fanfic pieces I’ve read in a long time. Absolutely lovely. You must read if you enjoy Who!fic.
- I am not a jelly doughnut. Contrary to my body size, I am not. I promise you.
- I’m craving Indian curry. I don’t think my intenstines would appreciate it, though.
- Apparently today is the day for all sorts of roadwork on I-95, because there are blocks up everywhere. Driving in to Boston today was… interesting.
- Right now, the prettiest part of said drive is right at the northbound exit for Route 1 in Sharon/Walpole. All of the leaves are still on the trees. Colors are past-peak, but the most beautiful variety of burnt orange, deep reds, and browns. Absolutely gorgeous.
- Our trees just turned color in the last two nights. Yesterday’s deluge of rain knocked a fair amount off into the yard.
- My cats are insane. Especially Noby.
- Is it can be weekend tiem nao, pleez?
I get online this morning and Erich sends a message that our former guild leader and two of the officers have posted messages on our new guild, stating that they’re leaving for various reasons. For now, they’re retreating back to our old guild.
Pardon me while I bounce happily at this, because I’ve been completely MISERABLE in this new guild… which claims it’s family friendly, not hardcore, etc.
But is hardcore. Really, truly is. From minimum gear requirements to even THINK of being allowed to raid, to requirements to join chat channels for your class that does nothing but provide junk on my screen because it’s all related to in-raid chat that I can’t attend due to minumum gear requirements. I’ve felt so miserable that I don’t want to play my main character in the guild that often. There’s no place for her there, but I was staying out of support for the guild leaders that I *wanted* to stay guilded with.
Now I can leave with a clear conscience tonight. Soo. Happy.
*bouncing*
