I have mine in a spot that literally gets full day sun with no obstruction. I don't prune or pinch or any of that stuff. When the vines get leggy and go outside of the cages, I will support their weight and sling the branches with old nylon stockings that had runs (great recycling, eh?) - they're soft enough yet strong enough to hold up a vine from bending to the ground. Other than that, I just water. Water daily, unless you get a lot of storms.
