October 2019 WIPocalypse Check-In

Hi everyone!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 10912310624_de78f9ddc1_m.jpg

Another month is gone, and the changing of the seasons is in full display here in New England. Peak autumn color has now passed for most of the trees, but there’s still some beautiful oranges and reds popping through the fading leaves. I honestly love this time of year. I think it’s the season where I spend the most time outside because I prefer the cooler temperatures and the drier air.

This year I’ve managed to get a bunch of stitching in, too. We’ve had some nice weekend days where I could enjoy some stitching outside with a warm cup of coffee. If only it could be like that all year! I hope that you’ve been able to enjoy both the weather and your projects.

Onto a couple of the updates for the stitch-a-long…

October Month Challenge

How did you do? I’ll admit that my plans went a bit awry this month due to a couple stitch-a-longs that took over a bit more than expected. But hey! It happens. I did manage to get a bunch of stitching done regardless and feel accomplished – and ultimately that’s all that matters. I’m looking forward to seeing your updates for the month!

Plans for 2020

Thank you to those who have given me some feedback and ideas for next year. Keep them coming! I’ll be posting all of the information for next year’s WIPocalypse when I post the check-in next month, so you’ll have the time to add it to calendars and incorporate things into your stitchy plans. 🙂

Happy stitching,
Mel.

Important SAL Announcements…

Please remember that this stitch-a-long is intended to be fun – so if you’re too busy to post, too busy/ill/etc. to stitch – no worries! Post when you can and share what you have going, even if you’ve only been able to toss a single stitch into it. If you miss a few months, not a problem – just jump back in when you’re back with us! It’s not a race or a competition – we’re all just here to cheer each other on with our progress.

The weekend where ALL of my SALs converge

This weekend is International Hermit and Stitch Weekend!  Grab a project (or two… or four), curl up, get some stitching done, and share with the world.

It’s kind of like WIPocalypse, but much shorter and even more freeform.  🙂

BUT WAIT – It’s also Jardin January for Theme-a-licious, which means that my selection for this weekend fits all of my ongoing SALS at the same time.

I know – right?  It’s epic stitching convergence time.  And at the end of the weekend, it’s time for TUSAL to finish it all off.

What piece is so epic in my stash that it can fulfill all of these SAL’s?  It’s none other than…

Floral Bellpull - as of 1-19-12

Floral Bellpull!

Yes, the ongoing WIP that has been ongoing for years, gone out on a UFO Round Robin cruise, and still remains an unfinished piece.  It’s the one Teresa Wentzler I truly want to complete this year – and completing it is actually possible if I sit my butt down, get the needle going, and get to work.

While yes, it’s only Thursday, I’m getting a start on it tonight for the weekend.  My goal is to finish the square you see – which is the 4th of 6 in the bellpull.  I don’t have that much actual cross-stitching left to do in the square, so it’s quite possible I can get it and all of the backstitching completed by Sunday night.

*crossing fingers*
