Stitching Works in Progress

October Goals & Round Robin updates

A few days late – but it’s been an interesting couple weeks…

For September, I wanted to:

  • Really, truly finish Garden Sampler.   Done!
  • Stitch on all of my WIPs via a sprint rotation like I did in February’s Olympics.  I did stitch on a few.  Not all.
  • Finish my stitching on Michelle’s RR piece  Done!
  • Mail my RR piece for the 2nd robin Done!  Smoky Mountain Cats is circling the globe.
  • Get my stitching room tidied up.  It’s started – emergencies got in the way of this.
  • Plan my ornament stitching for this year.  Done!  Now I just need to stitch them.

For October, I want to:

  • Stitch two more ornaments, and finish them and the two stitched pieces I already have.
  • Enjoy the Stitcher’s Hideaway retreat.  🙂
  • Finish pds’ piece for the UFO RR
  • Update my supply spreadsheet with all patterns & fabric stash
  • Stitch 15 hours during my vacation week.

I haven’t had time to stitch this week so far, but I did finish my most recent UFO Round Robin section… this time for my friend Michelle (aka Wench).

Here are the before/after photos for my round:

Lots of confetti stitching in my section. :) I seriously cannot believe we’re mailing on Round 6 already. Only two more rounds to go on this robin before it’s all done. It’s been a fantastic one, too – tons of progress on everyone’s pieces!

Next on my list for round robins is the first round of 2010 UFO RR #2… I’m starting off with Lindsay’s piece. It’s absolutely gorgeous:

I’m starting my stitching on it this weekend at the monthly Rhode Island Stitchers get-together on Saturday morning.  I’d love to get to it before then, but work has me pounding through a ton of prep work for meetings and such… plus the highest-ranking manager I support is traveling tomorrow evening through a good portion of next week, so I need to make sure his expense report and such are squared away – as I’m taking a vacation week nearly as soon as he returns.

So yes – stitching this weekend, and lots of it.  I have Monday off for Columbus Day (and Erich’s planning on going fishing with the guys that day), so between Saturday morning and most of Monday, I should get a nice block in.  I expect to be focusing on some housework Sunday.  In theory, anyway.

I can’t believe it’s only about a week and a half until Stitcher’s Hideaway!  I’ve been wanting to go to this for a couple years now, and it’s finally a reality.  I’ve never been to any stitching event before, partially out of intimidation (I may be social on the internet, but I struggle in person) and partially due to lack of funds.  But this year – I’m in, and friends are coming with me!  We’re the Mystic Two group (and may comprise the vast majority of the Mystic Two group, come to think of it!).  Mystic is less than an hour from my house – not far at all.  I’ll be heading down on Sunday the 17th and then returning home on Tuesday evening after events wrap up.  I took the rest of the week off, too.  With both Erich and Matt working, I may have a good amount of time to myself in the house.  (hooray!)

More this weekend once I get past the work chaos!
